About the Climate Justice Resilience Fund

The Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF) is a participatory climate justice fund that  channels resources from larger climate funders to community-led climate justice  initiatives that address the impacts and root causes of the climate crisis and sustain life,  and inform and inspire funders to reshape the climate funding ecosystem.

CJRF supports women, youth, and Indigenous peoples to build and share their own  solutions to climate change, and we make grants in three regions: the Bay of Bengal, East  Africa, and the Arctic. We also have a modest global portfolio that supports scaling  through cross-regional learning, replication, and global advocacy.

The CJRF governing board members are activists, practitioners, and leaders from across  regions and movements who share a commitment to climate justice, participatory  governance, and equitable philanthropy.

Grant Database Consultancy

In preparation for making grants under a new strategy, CJRF is looking for a temporary,  time-bound consultant to support the identification, setting up, and training of a grant  database. This process will entail:

• Understanding staff needs and priorities for a grant database

• Identifying database options, and detailing and communicating pros / cons of each  option to staff

• Supporting staff to identify an appropriate database and testing the database to  ensure it is fit for purpose

• Set up the database, including uploading some historical grant data to the  database

• Training staff to use the database

CJRF currently has approximately 100 grants that are either complete or currently active  that would need to be accommodated in the grant database, and CJRF has specific  elements we’re looking for the database to include for future grantmaking.

This is a fully remote assignment that could be performed by an individual or team  working from anywhere in the world. CJRF welcomes a diversity of applicants.

The selected consultant will be expected to have approximately weekly voice contact  with CJRF staff. The staff most closely associated with this project are located in the  GMT and GMT -4 time zones. Applicants should have access to adequate internet  bandwidth to facilitate communication and should be comfortable working with these  time zones.

Priority Areas of Experience

We are looking for a consultant with the following areas of expertise and experience: • Strong knowledge of databases to make and manage grants

• Experience identifying database needs and matching these with recommendations • Experience working with mid-sized intermediaries (annual budget in the USD 10- 15 million range)

• Knowledge of Salesforce, as it’s a system CJRF has access to and used in the past

We are looking for someone who also:

• Is able to schedule calls at times that cross time zones (mostly EST and GMT, but  possibly others)

• Can comfortably engage with multiple staff members

• Is available for this project between August and November 2026 • Comfortable working in English

CJRF and the selected consultant will agree on deliverables and a detailed scope of work  during the inception phase of the consultancy.

Timeline & Compensation

We are looking to initiate the contract by August 1, 2026 and conclude this project by  November 30, 2026.

The contract will be held by CJRF’s fiscal sponsor, the New Venture Fund. The contract  will be for up to USD 35,000.

Application Process

By 5 pm GMT on Friday, July 10, 2026 please submit the following to  kanchen.shakya@cjrfund.org with the subject line “Grant database consultancy”: • A short proposal (2 pages max) explaining your qualifications and how you would  approach this consultancy

• A proposed budget and short articulation of how you would spend it, including  approximate time on tasks (2 pages max)

• A brief CV or resumé (2 pages max)

• List of past/present clients (1 page max)

CJRF will notify candidates of next steps by July 20, 2026.
